"BE ACCOUNTABLE TO YOUR PEOPLE " - PM TASKS ASSEMBLY MEMBERS

The Presiding Member of the Wenchi Municipal Assembly Hon Samuel Mensah has tasked members of the 1st Session of the 8th Assembly to be mindful of the fact that they do not represent their own interests but the indispensable interests of their electorates, hence the indisputable need to be accountable to their people. He emphasised in caution that their actions and in-actions must be guided and guarded by accountability, commitment, consensus-building and constant touch with their electorates and prioritising the needs of the communities they represent as their guiding principles.

The Presiding Member who is also the Hon Assembly Member for Subinso No.2 made the call in his maiden address to the Assembly Members at the 1st Ordinary meeting of the 1st Session of the 8th Assembly.

Hon Mensah further expressed appreciation to Wenchi based Businessman and Philanthropist CEO of PMC Africa Group of Companies popularly called Alhaji PMC for freely registering over 1, 000 aged and children on the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and donations to schools as well as human development oriented initiatives.

The Municipal Health Director Robert Kwaku Bio, upon invitation briefed the house on the COVID-19 status of the Municipality. 10 of 11 patients on admission recovered. In all, 747 enhanced tests were done from which 183 tested positive but were Asymptomatics.

Debating issues on the floor of the House, the preliminary demonstration of competence and capacity of Honourable Members of the 1st Session of the 8th Assembly came to light at its 1st Ordinary Meeting when they engaged in very decent and issue-based debates on the agenda of the House.

The Presiding Member of the Assembly Hon Samuel Mensah ensured that the procedural rules and regulations of the august House were strictly followed to ensure decency, decorum with parliamentary and diplomatic discipline of best national and international practices.

Members of the august House, contributed to highly topical issues, amongst which was the novel Coronavirus pandemic and its related matters.

It is undoubtedly clear that the 1st Session of the 8th Assembly of the Wenchi Municipal Assembly would be one of the best Sessions and interesting House to watch.
