Staff Of Wenchi Methodist Senior High School Bids Farewell To HeadmasterThe Staff and entire students body of Wenchi Methodist Senior High School at Wenchi in the Bono Region has organised a send off ceremony in honor of
Mr. Foster Antwi Boateng Headmaster
of WESS on his retirement from the Ghana Education Service.Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions Director of the Ghana Education Service, Dr. Atefuah was the guest on the occasion while the ceremony was chaired by Nana Ansere Asakra II the Akrobi hene.Addressing on the occasion the speakers paid rich tribute to Mr Foster Antwi Boateng who was retired from the service after 34 years service.They said that Mr. Foster Antwi Boateng was a hard-working, committed and honest Headmaster at his time.The retired Headmaster enhanced academic work through the following initiatives
1. Saturday classes for final year students on core subjects,
2. Headmaster's Special Mid - term exams,
3. Writing of two Mock Exams by final year students, hitherto the final year students wrote only one Mock Exams but the addition of the Super Mock has helped the students to have a better feel of the Exams and this always places them in good stead for their final examinations,
4. Peer teaching among students,
5. Maintenance of discipline and promotion of good moral training among students,
6. Formation of school Committees for internal control. These committees which include but not limited to health, sanitation and beautification, sports, academic board, chaplaincy, culture, entertainment, teaching and non teaching staff welfare, disciplinary,prep have worked very hard to improve the image of the school and set reputable standards.
7. In service training at departmental levels and the encouragement of staff personal development,
8. Promotion of good supervision and monitoring,
9. Creation of good relations between the school and its key stakeholders (i.e . Board of Governors, Traditional Council, Old Students, The Methodist Church ,PTA, Education Directorate Municipal Assembly etc),
10. Active participation in staff welfare Issues.
As a Health Education and promotion practitioner during his tennure Mr Foster Antwi Boateng has been able to
1. Staff the school clinic with qualified health personnel from the Wenchi Methodist Hospital, now the facility is a Health Insurance Service Provider thereby eliminating the long journey that students had to embark on to access OPD services in Health facilities in town,
2. Reconstruction of the school clinic staff residency,
3. Relocation of the school's incinerator to a more appropriate place away from the school kitchen facility,
4. Provision of litter bins at vantage points within the premises.
As a physical education and sports practitioner, drawing on his intrinsic love for PE/Sports the outgoing Headmaster also made an impact in this area by:
1. Development of a new sports field with an athletics oval,2 volleyball courts,a handball court and a football pitch.
The members of the PE/Sports department and the Sports Committee put in a yeoman's job to ensure the completion and commissioning of the new field,

2. Provision of sports equipment and wears for PE/Sports this has helped the school sports team to chalk immense success in various competitions.

During his tennure the school library club under the Language Department also represented the Wenchi Methodist Senior High School and won several competitions including Five Municipal Debate Competitions and Three Zonal Debate Competitions.
The Drama Troupe was also adjudged winners of the last Drama competition under the Second Cycle Schools Cultural Festival.
19th March and other Disasters
On grave occurrence that brought great heartache to the Headmaster during his tennure was the infamous 19th March,2017 disaster.This churning event that placed a dark cloud over the school brings tears to the eyes on such a memorable day.It recall leaves one with goose bumps and chills that seep down to the marrow.
Of equal significance and fond remembrance are the dear members of both teaching and non teaching Staff who have joined the heavenly choir since the headmaster assumed office, prominent among them is the late Assistant Headmaster of the school, Mr. David Adu Damoah who was also a returning Officer of the office of the Electoral Commission in Wenchi.
Preceding these deaths was a real storm that hit not only the school but the Headmaster and his immediate family to their core, the lost of his first wife days before his scheduled induction service through a gorry accident.
Addressing on the occasion Mr Foster Antwi Boateng said even though the task on teaching was challenging, they must continue their noble task of educating the children of the nation.
He also Urged headmasters and teachers to be united especially when problems arise.
Mr Foster encouraged students not to loose focus on their primary aim of being in school but allow the virtues,hardwork dicsipline and moral values of the school be installed in them and yearn to keep their environment clean.
The retired Headmaster finally thanked everyone who was involved in the celebration.The send off ceremony included students performance and special gift presentations as well as citation to the outgoing Headmaster, Mr Foster Antwi Boateng was delighted by the ceremony.
