The Presiding Bishop congratulates Methodist Girl’s School,Manfe for winning World Robotics Competition

Just about 5 months ago, The Methodist Girls SHS, Manfe paid a courtesy call on the Presiding Bishop of The Methodist Church Ghana having won the National Robotics Competition. They demonstrated their Robotics skills and innovation alongside other technologically drive-proposals to bring solutions to the Economy.  They received all the endorsements, commendations and support from the Conference Office and a financial booster to help them upgrade their potentials. This was backed by a powerful prayer from the Presiding Bishop. Little did we know that; The Girls were aiming very high and had what it takes to demonstrate their potentials. The girls have made Ghana and The Methodist Church Ghana very proud in winning the world Robotics competition.
Methodist Girls High School at Mamfe, won the 2019 edition of the World Robofest competition held in Michigan, United States. Team ACRO-BOT as they are called came first beating opposition from the United States, Mexico, China, Hong Kong, South Korea, Brazil, Columbia, Egypt, England, India and Nigeria.  This achievement is more inspirational and motivating, giving a green light that, when fully resourced, women and girls in Africa can exhibit their full potentials and competence. The team had earlier picked other awards in Ukraine. This has registered Ghana’s presence in the world through the Robotics Inspired Science Education Programme (RISE).
In his congratulatory remarks, The Presiding Bishop; Most Rev. Dr. Paul Kwabena Boafo enumerated his joy for the honour done the Church and Nation and the people called Methodists. The pride of being a Methodist Student and the excellence portrayed through Science and Technology was a great feast for all. The Presiding Bishop added that, this achievement will pave way for other schools to shine. He charged all Methodist schools to do their best wherever they are. As a token of appreciation and recognition from the Methodist Church Ghana, the school was given $2,200 to buy two sets of robotics kit for learning, two brand-new Corei5 laptops and a cash cheque of Ghc15,000.00 for the students, coaches and trainers. They were treated to a warm refreshment lunch by the Head Office.
The Methodist Church Ghana hierarchy was fully represented to grace the presentation ceremony. Present were The Administrative Bishop; The Rt. Rev. Michael A. Bossman, Bishops of Accra, Northern Accra, Koforidua, and Tema with their Synod Secretaries and Lay Chairmen. General Directors and Directors of Finance, Education, Heritage, Human Resource, Communication and Publications. Conference staff and the press were all present to share in the joy and achievements. We wish to congratulate the School, their instructors, coaches, headmistress and the team for their dedication, commitment, courage and passion for robotics. We say Ayekoo.
