The Municipal Chief Executive for Wenchi, Hon. Dr. Prince Kwakye Afiriyie has cut sod to commence the construction of First Lady’s children’s library project in the Municipality.
The ceremony for the project took place on the premises of the Methodist “C” basic School in Wenchi which was attended by various stakeholders in education including representatives from the GES, teachers, parents and school children.
Hon. Dr. Prince Kwakye Afiriyie, speaking after the sod cutting ceremony said the project forms part of the First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo promise to build 20 libraries across the country to meet the needs of children.To further support literacy, the Rebecca Foundation’s launched the “Learning to Read, Reading to Learn” project in October 2018, where Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo promised to build 20 libraries across the country to enhance education.
The Chief Executive told media the project after completion will help school going children in and around the Municipality to revise their notes and provide them with other learning materials even during vacation and after contact hours.
